a gift of mockery i should thank for

it is indeed undeniably thoughful of you
that i had roses first thing in the morning of
my birth day
for roses were beautiful especially those
red blooming ones from you
while a single petal means a lot
what more a bouquet from the dearest
warmth of your heart
wrapped with silky white papier with that
little cute angel doll in the middle
it was just sweet
and it had a hand-written wish card
filled with words deep down from
your kind-hearted gentle soul
i must say
it was all really sweet

even so
if you must know
and i am sure that i have told you so
that i sincerely never and never will like
roses
for they were the ones who caused the
misery i had since the time i was four
where i witnessed the tragedy - my parents
got hit by a truck near the national park
as i, was playing in the nearby, garden of roses

p/s: again, thank you for the roses and maybe you could
take me to the national park next year, on my birth day

Lady of the big house

She is in a position where she felt everything has been taken away from her. She refuses to eat anything and doesn't have the energy to do anything. She feels like her spirit and beauty is taken away from her soul. She looks at her reflection in the mirror and she doesn't see herself. She's desperate to get back what she had before. The person she saw in the mirror was a stranger. Angered, she took the mirror, sprung it in the air and smash it on the floor. She then grabbed the glass with her bare hands. Her scream woke everyone up that night. She wouldn't stop screaming so we had to grab her hands and force her to let go of the broken mirror. She resisted and fought with all her might and she said furiously and crying at the same time, " I told her not to touch what is mine! Now everything I've worked for is gone!".

"Look at me! Look at what she's done to me!", she screams at us. We were confused that night. To us, she looked just the same. Her small fragile frame, her long beautiful black hair and her face - flawless and she was no different than how we saw her the first time before she was ill. Now both her palms are covered in blood. The maid tried to wrap her hands with a cloth to stop the bleed. She looks at her in disappointment and told us all that its no use to stop the bleeding now. She'd rather die, she whispers weakly. She won't stop saying that she's lost everything.

We waited for her. We wait for her to calm down.

"Take me to the bathroom" she said. We carry her slowly to her en suite bathroom. She ordered Hannah and I to accompany her inside while the rest waited in fear outside. Most of us were afraid of her. She kept herself very private usually. Neither of us have ever had any proper conversation with her. We only do our daily chores and did what our superiors asks us to do for her. This was our first time all seven of us were there in the same room with her.

She asked Hannah to ready the tub with hot water and salt. "Light the candles!" she ordered me. After everything is settled she asked us to leave her in the room and reminded us to tell the rest to go back to sleep. We hesitated at first, but that was an order. She is the master of the house and to do what is told was our pledge. I knew what she wanted to do. I saw her taking out the bottles from the locked cupboard. I couldn't stop her. I wish I could.

Neither of us could sleep that night. We waited quietly in our beds. Waiting for the sun to rise so that we can have a reason to go into her room. I was the first to wake that morning to ring the bell like I always do. Then I rushed to her room to check on her. Everyone was there by then. She lays on her bed. Tucked in neatly. Empty bottles on her side table. She's no longer breathing Hannah whispers.

The theory of Karma

"We are the heirs of our own actions." -Buddha

I've read a few of the various interpretations of these karmic justice and it made me dizzy. I will stil look at it as what the Americans say, "What goes around comes around..". The vibe of so many people believing in this theory is so strong that it has been made into songs, i.e. J.Timberlake and Alicia Keys.

"You know, whatever deed they do now (good or bad) they will repay later. It's karma" , Ms Chaya.

I know life provide chances. Does it have to involve chances taking advantage of someone's vulnurability?

Monday kebaya thoughts

Heart, feelings and emotions - if only it can be calculated.

It wouldn't make this world any better though. Maybe it could justify to someone how much you love them, how much they hate it when you fight because of money, how much they hate that "babi hutan", how many times they miss you and how much they miss you, how they really appriciates the little things you do just to make them happy.. i like this quote..

At least I know who I can't live without. *feeling blessed!*

as i was reading..

yesterday, there was this ad on the newspaper promoting the idea of 1Mas (Yah. the new thing in town). it tries to send a message to malaysians that we are all like ABC - made up of different and variety of stuff, blend in together in a bowl - to make a splendid ABC that everybody loves. well, i wouldn't disagree on the 'variety and blend' idea, but to say that everybody loves it? hmm...think again. ABC is made up of ice which also means that it is cold. and to some, they cannot take ABC or ice cream or anything that is too cold (that explains why they have Sensodyne in stores). My point is, to say that something is like something, is truely not an easy task. a good research must be carried out on the issue being proposed. the effort is there, but please..be realistic. ABC is made up of so many ingredients and all of them are totally different in shape and colour. i (a little tiny miny dot on this land), would prefer visitors from other countries to see the citizens of this country in one colour. and not in variety. we live as one. therefore we should be recognised as one. not as ABC.

Mellow yellow monday thoughts

by Ms Chaya

There should be a reason to why a certain person acts a certain way. I like to think that way most of the time and when my mood goes away I just ignore - simple.

Today's monday is different. I feel something changing and I can't ask my brain to not think about it. Could it be that I'm wearing yellow? Maybe.

I went to a wedding yesterday. It was a beautiful day, beautiful bride and groom and a typical malay wedding. Just one thought though, why do malay couples get married young? By young I mean just graduated, got a first job, barely can support oneself and let alone a family!

Some of their reply was : family force them to get married (tak bagus couple lama-lama nanti tak sedap dipandang orang) and some say they've found the one (ok that one I can't argue).

Malay culture and habits have always been dependant on what others would think. So does this mean that there are people out there who marry young just to justify how people would look on them? Have they ever thought about how they're going to pay for the loan they took for the wedding? (Maybe their rich parents are paying eh?) What about how many kids they plan to have and the money to support the child's needs and education? (Why need planning? My wife can take care of them!) and the best part that I always hear ; "Dear, you don't have to work just quit your job and take care of the family after we get married." Lovely!

Can someone please justify my thoughts and comment on this?
